What’s the difference between purchasing an individual course and signing up for a Planet Handpan Premium membership?

When you purchase an individual course, you'll have lifetime access to that specific course. With a Planet Handpan Premium membership, you'll gain access to the entire catalog, including the Learning Lab, Rhythm Vault, and Groove Engine, for a monthly or annual fee. If you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to all content.

Does the purchase of a Learning Lab course include access to the corresponding Rhythm Vault and Groove Engine pack?

No, the Rhythm Vault and Groove Engine packs are sold separately. However, if you subscribe to a Premium plan, you will have full access to all Planet Handpan content.

Does my handpan need to be in a specific key?

No, the material is designed to work with any key or design of handpan. All exercises, grooves, and songs are pattern-based rather than pitch-specific, and you can use the transpose function in the Groove Engine to match your instrument.

Are your courses suitable for all skill levels?

Yes, the courses are designed for all skill levels, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. There is a wide range of content to support different learning needs.

What do I get when I enroll in a course?

When you purchase a course, you receive lifetime access to all course videos and a downloadable guidebook containing notation for the content.

What do I get with a Planet Handpan membership?

What if I’m not satisfied with a course?

For this week's Handpan Maker Spotlight, we feature Gio's Instruments, a Mallorca-based artisan who first encountered the handpan in 2007. Captivated by its sound, Gio fell in love with the instrument and pursued a journey to make a living doing what he loves. Dedicated to creating accessible, high-quality handpans, Gio enjoys the freedom to experiment with new scales and designs, constantly pushing creative boundaries.

What is your company name? And what is the meaning/inspiration behind it?

Gio's instruments. It comes from my name, Sergio.

Who is your company run by? Do you work alone or with a team of people?

We are actually two people working. I got some help a few years ago!

I started hammering in 2017.

Mallorca (Spain).

How did you first discover the handpan?

It was 2007. I saw someone playing one and I fell in love.

What is your goal as a handpan builder?

Just to make my living doing what I love.

What made you decide to start building handpans?

After playing it for 7 years it was time for a change and I felt it was something I could do.

What are your most and least favorite things about being a handpan builder?

My most favorite thing would be being able of making my own instruments. My least favorite is the damage that handpan building does to the body.

What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring handpan makers?

Patience.

If you could only play one handpan scale for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

I would say an extended Kurd, maybe in F# so I can make it 20 notes!

We usually have some orders going on but we've managed to keep our waiting time under 3 months.
